4 DIY Coffee Scrubs For Clear And Radiant Skin

how to make a coffee scrub

To make room for new cells, our skin sheds old, dead skin cells. These dead skin cells can accumulate on our skin and often, this results in dry flaky patches as well as clogged pores. Clogged pores can lead to pimples, acne, blackheads, and whiteheads. This is why it is important to exfoliate your skin regularly, to get rid of the built-up layer of dead cells. No worries, though. Here, we’ll tell you how to make a coffee scrub to get your skin glowing again.

Exfoliation has several benefits, like:

  • Preventing acne by unclogging the pores. Clogged pores result in the oil getting trapped under the dry skin. This is a potential breeding ground for bacteria that cause infections and acne.
  • When the skin is covered in a layer of dead cells, other products that you might be applying to your skin have no way of penetrating this layer. After exfoliation, your serums and moisturizers can reach where they’re supposed to.
  • If you have dark spots, hyperpigmentation, or scarring on your face, scrubbing will even your skin tone. It also gives you a glowing, radiant complexion.
  • Further, the circular motion while scrubbing boosts the circulation of oxygen-rich blood to the skin which nourishes the skin.

The good news is that you don’t need to go to a salon and pay a lot of money for it. The coffee you drink daily can work wonders on your skin.

Coffee is highly beneficial for your skin as it can help reduce cellulite, inflammation, treat dark circles, has anti-aging effects, and provide vitamin B3. The caffeine present in coffee is also known for reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

Making a scrub from coffee (both ground and instant) is very easy. Here are some DIY coffee scrub recipes you can try out.

For Dry Skin

This is a simple recipe that will moisturize and exfoliate your skin. All you need is yogurt and instant coffee. Add 1/4 teaspoon coffee to 1 teaspoon yogurt and gently massage this all over your face (and neck). Leave it on for 5 minutes and rinse with warm water.

You can use this once or twice a week for brighter and smoother skin.

For oily skin

If you have oily skin, try this scrub which also acts as an exfoliating mask. For this recipe, you need coconut oil, bentonite clay powder, and coffee powder.

Mix 1 tablespoon of coffee and 1 tablespoon of bentonite clay. Add coconut oil and mix well thoroughly. Apply this on your face and gently massage via your fingers in a circular motion. Leave it on for 15 minutes.

The coconut oil will moisturize your skin while bentonite clay will unclog the pores.
